Ethics statement

How we approach our work, the standards we hold ourselves to, and the principles that guide every engagement.

Issued: 4 February 2026 · Last reviewed: 17 July 2026

This statement sets out which engagements GCG accepts, which it refuses, and who decides. It applies to every consortium member and associate working on a GCG engagement, in every jurisdiction where the Group operates. The Group delivers through independent consortium members rather than employees, so these obligations reach the people doing the work through the member contract, induction and engagement review. We work globally, across diverse regions and sectors, and we recognise that with this reach comes a responsibility to operate with integrity, transparency and respect for the people, communities and institutions we serve and support.

GCG delivers its services in a manner that respects the governance frameworks, cultural expectations and national priorities of every country in which we operate. Our work is strictly non-political. We review how an organisation is governed and how safely it operates, and we say what needs to change.

1. Our ethical foundation

Good governance and strong operational systems make people safer. We do not take work that compromises human rights, political neutrality or public trust. Instead, we focus on advisory work that:

  • Strengthens organisational governance
  • Improves safety and operational assurance
  • Improves transparency and accountability
  • Supports responsible and sustainable operations
  • Builds capability within local institutions
  • Reduces risk to communities, to the people who do the work, and to the people the organisation serves

Our engagements must always contribute positively to the public good.

2. How we choose who we work with

GCG works across multiple sectors, including public safety, policing, transportation, critical infrastructure, agriculture and other public and commercial operations. Some sectors carry heightened ethical considerations, and we approach each engagement with a structured due-diligence process. Before accepting any engagement, we assess:

  • The organisation's governance maturity
  • Whether the organisation meets the standards its regulator holds it to
  • Human rights and environmental responsibilities
  • Reputation and community impact
  • Potential conflicts of interest
  • The degree to which GCG's involvement can create positive change
  • Compatibility with local regulatory and cultural expectations

We do not work with organisations where our involvement could enable harm, conceal wrongdoing or undermine public trust.

3. Our role: governance, safety and improvement — not enforcement

GCG provides advisory, governance and operational improvement services. We do not participate in political activity, engage in enforcement or coercive operations, provide services that could be used to harm individuals or communities, or support activities that undermine human rights or ethical standards. Our work is designed to improve systems, not to influence political outcomes or operational decisions.

4. Working across diverse global environments

GCG works through GCG UK, GCG Australia, GCG UAE, GCG Pacific and GCG Retail & Commercial, including in countries where governance and safety systems are weak and where our own presence carries risk. Our involvement is guided by three commitments:

  • Transparency. We are open about our role, our scope and our independence. Before an engagement starts, we tell the client in writing about every introducer, partner and commercial relationship that bears on it.
  • Integrity. We work in line with the principles of ISO 9001:2015 for the quality of our work and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for how we protect information. We meet the regulatory requirements of each jurisdiction we work in, and the engagement contract names them.
  • Public value. Our work must contribute to safer communities, stronger institutions and improved outcomes for the people affected by the organisations we support.

If an engagement cannot meet these principles, we do not proceed.

5. Sector-specific ethical considerations

Government and public safety organisations

Supporting government agencies and policing organisations is the core of our work. Our work focuses on governance, operational assurance, risk management, training and capability development, and organisational improvement. We do not engage in enforcement or politically sensitive activities.

Critical infrastructure

These sectors carry environmental, community and safety responsibilities. In these sectors we review how the organisation is governed and how safely it operates, test both against the standard the operator is held to, and hand over a report that names the gaps in priority order.

Agriculture and supply chain organisations

We work only with organisations committed to responsible, sustainable operations and continuous improvement.

6. Independence and conflict management

GCG maintains strict independence in all advisory work. We avoid engagements that could create conflicts of interest, competing obligations between clients, political influence, or reputational risk to GCG or its partners. The Managing Partner assesses every potential conflict before the engagement starts, records it in the conflicts register, and tells the client what the conflict is and how it is managed.

7. Human rights and safeguarding

We work to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The engagement lead checks each piece of work for safeguarding risk before it is issued, and records the check. We tell a client where its practices fall short. We cannot make a client adopt our advice, and we do not claim to. We apply these principles consistently across all jurisdictions.

8. Our commitment to continuous ethical improvement

Ethics is not a static concept. As GCG grows, we continuously refine our frameworks, update our due-diligence processes and strengthen our governance structures. The Compliance Lead reviews this statement, the client and partner register and the due-diligence process each year, and reports the outcome to the Managing Partners. The review date at the top of this page records the last review.
