Stuart Bartels
MANAGING DIRECTOR & DIRECTOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Stuart (Stu) Bartels is the co-founder and Managing Director of the Global Consortium Group (GCG), and the head of GCG’s Leadership Development Practice.
Prior to forming GCG, Stu was the Executive Director of the Manly based Australian Institute for Police Management - a leading-edge leadership centre responsible for developing executive leaders across ANZ Policing and the globe. This built on an extensive policing career spanning over 36 years and including two years Acting Assistant Commissioner and CIO of the Western Australia Police ICT portfolio, implementation of major reform to the WA Police Forensic Division; the delivery of the Policing Logistics Operation for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and leading executive roles in two major frontline operating model transformations.
Stu understands the nexus between today’s complex policing and public safety challenges and the role of leaders and leadership. This understanding is what drove Stu and Imran to create an organisation in which public safety leaders come together to support the mission of their public safety colleagues.
Globally, Stu has been responsible for developing partnerships with organisations across the world. The list of partner organisations is extensive and includes Australian and international universities, peak policing bodies, First Nations leaders, mental health advocates, and law enforcement organisations including the Singapore Home Team Academy, FBI, the US Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre (FLETC), Police Scotland, Netherlands Police, Singapore Police, Pacific Island Chiefs and many more.
Stu’s qualifications include a Master of Public Policy and Administration and a Bachelor of Science (Forensic Investigation). In addition, he is a proud graduate of the AIPM’s own Police Leadership Strategy (PLS), a graduate of the FBI’s National Executive Interchange program, and an IECL Certified Organisational Coach. For his services to policing Stuart has been awarded the Australian Police Medal, and a Commissioners Medal for Excellence and a Commissioners Commendation.
