In 2015, Rob was tasked with refocusing Australia’s national effort to counter terrorism through the establishment of the Australian Counter Terrorism Centre. Rob was the initial Executive Director of that new centre, based in Canberra.

Following his retirement, Rob has consulted for several Commonwealth and State Government Departments and agencies, with a particular focus on leadership and governance. He also spent some time as an external adviser to private industry and has worked on major event security planning and major infrastructure security planning in Australia and overseas.

In 2021, Rob was awarded the Australian Security Medal for his leadership and drive in building a stronger collaborative partnership between law enforcement, business and the security industry.
