Mike has over 30 years of policing experience and is dedicated to improving community safety outcomes through evidence-based practices. He currently serves as the Director, Evidence-Based Practice, Global Consortium Group.

Mike has held various leadership positions, including managing the Investigations and Intelligence Training Unit and the QPS Leadership Centre. He has also been an Evidence-Based Policing (EBP) Visiting Fellow at the University of Queensland (UQ), Operations Manager - Cybercrime Squad and Intelligence Operations Manager – Crime Intelligence Services, State Intelligence Group.

In 2023, he was awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship to research best practices in cybercrime investigation and intelligence gathering among international law enforcement agencies. This research has recently taken him across Asia, North America, and Europe to engage with leading experts and identify innovative approaches to combatting cybercrime.

Mike is currently a Doctoral Candidate at UQ, researching gendered advancement within large policing organizations. He holds a Master of Information Systems (awarded with Distinction) from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), a graduate certificate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Bachelor of Information Technology (also awarded with Distinction) from USQ.

Mike’s commitment to evidence-based practice is further evidenced by his role as Secretary for the Australia and New Zealand Society for Evidence-Based Policing (ANZSEBP), an organisation he has been involved with since its inception over a decade ago. His contributions to evidence-based practice have garnered significant international recognition. He was inducted into the Centre for Evidence Based Crime Policy's (George Mason University, Virginia) EBP Hall of Fame in 2018 and received the Outstanding Practitioner Award from the Division of Policing, American Society of Criminology in 2021. He has also been awarded several Assistant Commissioner Certificates in recognition of his dedication to duty and professionalism.
